4th Annual Stick Shift Shootout Announced

January 15, 2016

TREMEC Stick Shift ShootoutTREMEC announces 4th Annual TREMEC® Stick Shift Shootout

Hosted by the NMRA Ford National Series at Bradenton Motorsports Park, March 3-6, 2016.

Plymouth, Michigan / Jan. 15, 2016 --

The stands will be buzzing and the staging lanes rumbling as the 4th Annual TREMEC® Stick Shift Shootout rolls into Bradenton, Florida, during the 22nd Annual NMRA Spring Break event.  For those unfamiliar, TREMEC’s Stick Shift Shootout is a competition that is held as part of the NMRA’s True Street competition (sponsored by QA1), that seeks to find the fastest manually-shifted Ford-powered street-driven vehicle in the country.

The rules are simple: no multi-level, inline-shifted, or twin-countershaft race-style transmissions allowed; and no shift-assist mechanisms such as air, electric, or hydraulic actuation—just good old ‘H-pattern’ gear-rowing at its best!  Modifications such as “face-plated” gears are permitted, and all street-type transmissions are welcome (TREMEC TKO, Ford Toploader, Borg-Warner T-10, etc).  All True Street class rules will also be observed (i.e.- plates & insurance, mufflers, DOT-legal tires required).  Beyond that, it’s a simple matter of whose car is fastest and who bangs gears best!

As for the structure of the competition itself, all True Street contestants with manual transmissions are automatically in the Shootout.  Of them, the fastest eight stick-shift racers will each be awarded for their gear-jamming greatness during True Street competition with an official TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout plaque; not to mention the respect of their fellow racers!  The fastest two racers however, will advance to a best-two-out-of-three slugfest; in which the winner takes the title of Stick Shift Shootout Champion and wins the *TREMEC transmission of their choice!

The event is rounded out by a TREMEC-sponsored Racer Appreciation Party, where plenty of hot pizza and cold beverages will be served to all QA1 True Street racers, as well as, their families and crew.  It’s the perfect way to kick off the season following a long winter slumber.  The staff of TREMEC hopes to see you there!
