Job description:

As a Development Engineer you are responsible for the development of components and subsystems in the TREMEC innovative and high-performance drivetrain solutions, dual clutch/hybrid transmissions and Electric Drive Units (EDU). Together with your fellow engineers and other cross functional teams you work on design and development of components for these drivetrain solutions. You collaborate with potential suppliers for the development of parts, from the early design phase till the final product launch. You work towards the best possible technical solution to meet the product requirements by means of calculations, simulations and tests.

As a Development Engineer, you drive the decision making by evaluating the technical solutions with various aspects such as efficiency, durability, feasibility, timing, risk and cost. You drive the resolution with the cross functional team to arrive at the best solution for the product and the system. When production is started, you stay in touch with the product engineering team to ensure continuous improvement of our products.

Your project specific tasks include:

  • Interpret system requirements and define clear component/subsystem technical targets
  • Establish component technical specifications and key design parameters
  • Develop and mature component and subsystem design concepts
  • Conduct engineering feasibility studies and perform preliminary calculations
  • Lead DFMEA development to evaluate and mitigate design risks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams for specialized analysis (FE/NVH/…) to refine/optimize to meet the requirements
  • Ensure manufacturability and supplier feasibility through DFM/DFA considerations
  • Technical follow up with suppliers and component manufacturers
  • Support prototype builds to ensure component readiness and system integration
  • Plan, coordinate and support validation testing
  • Analyse test results and drive design improvements
  • Execute issue resolution through disciplined and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and specifications
  • Champion the design through technical and cross-functional reviews and maintain clear tracking of project milestones
  • Manage engineering changes and ensure timely documentation updates
  • Technical reporting and communication effectively with TREMEC management and customers
  • Pursue continuous learning of emerging technologies and market trends

About you:

  • A Master’s degree in mechanical, electro‑mechanical or automotive engineering forms the basis of your technical expertise.
  • You bring at least 3 years of experience in mechanical component or system development.
  • A hands‑on, pragmatic approach combined with strong problem‑solving skills and a critical mindset defines the way you work.
  • Continuous learning motivates you, and you genuinely enjoy diving deep into technical challenges.
  • You work in an organized and dynamic way, progressing independently while contributing effectively as a team player.
  • You communicate fluently in English, with Dutch or Spanish considered an asset
