As a Hydraulics Development Engineer you are responsible for the development of (electro)-hydraulic components and subsystems such as valves, accumulators and valve bodies in the TREMEC innovative and high-performance drivetrain solutions, hybrid transmissions and Electric Drive Units (EDU). Together with your fellow engineers and other cross functional teams you work on design and development of high-performance hydraulic components for fast actuations of clutches, gear selections and other actuators in our drivetrain solutions. You collaborate with potential suppliers for the development of parts, from the early design phase till the final product launch. You work towards the best possible technical solution to meet the product requirements by means of calculations, simulations and tests.
As a Hydraulics Development Engineer, you drive the decision making by evaluating technical solutions with various aspects such as efficiency, performance, feasibility, timing, risk and cost. You drive the resolution with the cross functional team to arrive at the best solution for the product and the system. When production has started, you will stay in touch with the product engineering team to ensure continuous improvement of our products.
Your project specific tasks include:
- Preparation of Requirements
- Support the development process with risk assessment (DFMEA) and calculations
- Design for manufacturing and feasibility discussions
- Design for assembly discussions with the broader international team
- Providing inputs for Process FMEA and control plan
- Technical follow up with suppliers and component manufacturers
- Hands on support of the test engineer in our high tech lab environment
- Follow up of validation, data analysis and test reporting
- Working together with the quality, industrialization and purchasing teams
- Issue resolution during development and testing
- Change management of components
- Technical reporting towards TREMEC management and customers
- Staying up to date on new technologies & market trends
About you:
You’re someone with a solid engineering backbone and a genuine appetite for hydraulics. Instead of just “having experience”, you bring curiosity, initiative and a natural drive to solve technical puzzles.
Here’s what helps you shine in this role:
- A master’s degree in mechanical, electro-mechanical or automotive engineering
- Several years of hands‑on experience in hydraulic component or system development
- A pragmatic, sleeves‑rolled‑up mindset combined with sharp analytical thinking
- Enthusiasm to dive deep into complex technical topics and learn continuously
- The ability to move forward independently, while also thriving in a team environment
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Fluency in English; Dutch and/or Spanish are nice to have
